PROFESSIONAL JOURNEY

After believing I was destined to be a teacher, I spent four years in the classroom before realizing that my true passion was supporting youth to navigate life situations that impeded their ability to thrive in a classroom environment. I earned my Master of Social Work degree and spent another three years in the classroom as a Special Education Teacher and Social Worker, working specifically with teens with Level 1 Autism who were unable to be successful in a general education space. Before joining Colorado Dream Foundation, I worked at Children's Hospital Colorado on the Neuropsychiatric Special Care Unit (an inpatient unit for youth with Autism or other intellectual diagnoses), which solidified my passion for working with youth and their families in a setting that allowed them to learn, grow, and be successful for years to come.

APPROACH TO THERAPY

I specialize in working with neurodivergent youth including Autism, ADHD, and executive functioning as well as teens with anxiety often caused by traumatic life experiences. Together with their caretakers and/or school teams, we will work to find strategies that support growth and development across all environments - especially at home and at school!

I use a holistic model to meet my clients and their caregivers where they are at. I don’t believe therapy is a one-size-fits-all approach and I lean into the interests of my clients when in session. You can find us playing sports, doing art, going for a walk, or learning through play.

COMMUNITIES

I thoroughly enjoy working with any human but I often find myself on this journey with youth and families to navigate their neurodivergence and explore solutions to remove barriers for long-term success. I have worked with youth across the autism spectrum, youth and young adults who are part of the LGBTQIA+ community, BIPOC youth, as well as those within the foster care system.

PERSONAL INTERESTS

I love spending time with my family, traveling, watching live sports, checking out new restaurants with patios in Denver, and being outside with her dog, Luna.

"You don’t have to be positive all the time. It’s perfectly okay to feel sad, angry, annoyed, frustrated, scared, and anxious. Having feelings doesn’t make you a negative person. It makes you human."
