  • Yes, if your child attends school near one of our sites, they can schedule therapy sessions during the school day. We understand the importance of convenience and will work with you to find a time that fits into their school schedule.

  • Yes, you can refer someone to therapy other than yourself. Beyond Dreams Therapy accepts referrals from individuals, family members, friends, healthcare providers, schools, and other community organizations. If you know someone who could benefit from therapy, you can recommend they seek help and provide them with information on how to connect with a member of our team.

  • Yes, you as the legal guardian must provide consent for your child (below the age of 12) to receive treatment before they can be seen by a therapist. This consent ensures that you are aware of and agree to your child receiving therapy services. Therapists usually provide consent forms outlining the treatment process, confidentiality guidelines, and your rights as a parent or guardian.

Under Colorado's Mental Health Professions and Occupations statutes, modified by HB 19-1120, youth aged 12 years and older can consent to their own outpatient mental health treatment without their caregivers or guardians being informed. However, it's important to us at Beyond Dreams Therapy to involve caregivers in the process and work with youth to create an environment where they feel comfortable sharing their treatment information with their caregivers when appropriate and when the youth is ready to share. This approach aims to support both the autonomy of older youth and the involvement of caregivers in their care journey.

  • The clinicians at Beyond Dreams Therapy adheres to strict confidentiality guidelines. Generally, what your child discusses in therapy is kept confidential between the therapist and your child, unless there are safety concerns or specific circumstances that require communication with you. However, therapists typically provide general updates about progress and treatment plans while respecting the privacy and trust established with your child. If you have specific questions about how information is shared, it's best to discuss this directly with the therapist at the beginning of therapy.

  • What you discuss with your therapist is confidential. We take your privacy very seriously and adhere to strict confidentiality laws and ethical guidelines. However, there are certain exceptions where we may be required to share information:

    1. If there is a risk of harm to yourself or others: If you express intentions to harm yourself or someone else, we may need to take action to ensure safety.

    2. If there is suspicion of abuse or neglect: Therapists are mandated reporters, which means we must report suspected abuse or neglect of children, elderly, or vulnerable individuals.

    3. If required by law: In some legal situations, we may be compelled to provide information through a court order.

Outside of these exceptions, your information will remain confidential and will not be shared without your explicit consent.

  • You don't need to know exactly what you're having a hard time with before starting therapy. It's common for people to feel unsure about their specific issues. Your therapist will help you explore your thoughts and feelings, identify any underlying concerns, and work with you to develop a plan tailored to your needs. The important thing is to take that first step toward getting support.

  • The length of time you'll be in therapy varies depending on your individual needs and goals. Some people may benefit from a few sessions, while others might find longer-term therapy more helpful. Your therapist will work with you to create a personalized treatment plan and will regularly review your progress to determine the appropriate duration of therapy.

  • The frequency of your therapy sessions will depend on your individual needs and treatment plan. Typically, clients meet with their therapist once a week, but some may benefit from more frequent sessions, while others may meet biweekly or monthly. Your therapist will work with you to determine the best schedule to support your goals and progress.

  • You have the option to meet with your therapist either in person or virtually. We offer both in-person sessions at our locations and virtual sessions via secure online platforms to accommodate your preferences and needs. You can choose the format that works best for you.

  • Our clinicians do not prescribe medication. However, we can work closely with your primary care physician or a psychiatrist who can assess your need for medication and manage prescriptions if necessary. We can also provide referrals to trusted medical professionals who can assist with medication management.

  • In your first therapy session, you can expect the therapist to create a welcoming and safe environment where you can discuss your concerns and goals. Here’s what typically happens:

    1. Introductions and paperwork: You'll likely fill out some initial paperwork, including consent forms and information about your background.

    2. Assessment: The therapist will ask questions to understand your current situation, including what brings you to therapy, your personal history, and any symptoms or challenges you're facing.

    3. Goal setting: You'll work together to establish goals for therapy. This helps guide the focus of your sessions and gives you a sense of direction.

    4. Discussion: You'll have the opportunity to discuss your thoughts, feelings, and any specific issues you want to address. The therapist may ask clarifying questions to better understand your experiences.

    5. Collaborative planning: Towards the end of the session, you and your therapist will discuss a treatment plan and how often you'll meet. You can also ask any questions you have about the therapy process.

Throughout the session, the therapist will listen attentively, provide support, and begin to build a therapeutic relationship based on trust and understanding. Remember, the first session is primarily about getting to know each other and setting a foundation for future work together.

    3. Rescheduling options: Clients can reschedule appointments without incurring fees if done within the notice period.
