PROFESSIONAL JOURNEY

I went into mental health counseling because I've been close to many friends and family members who have struggled with purpose, anxiety, and depression. I've noticed that those who face these challenges are often some of the most compassionate and tender people I know, and I wanted to find a way to support them. I firmly believe that anyone can access resilience and thrive in a world that is not always so rosy and kind. Harsh realities do not have to mean hope and joy are lost and I believe that our unique capacity to grow and change makes our thriving possible, given enough time and support to adapt.

APPROACH TO THERAPY

I focus on attachment and relationship patterns, paying particular attention to the unique ways each client constructs meaning and how this meaning is related to their important relationships. I specialize in helping clients find their place in society and grapple with crises of meaning and purpose. I believe it's important to carefully examine the influence of our upbringing and language in shaping our personalities and experiences and to move to a position of curiosity for this always-evolving process of growth and identity formation. Knowing what we want, how to achieve those desires, and being able to adapt to and recognize changes in our desires is a hallmark of good mental health. To this end, one of my main goals is to restore a sense of enthusiasm for life itself, warts and all. For youths and adults, this means making sure that there is comfort in the exploration of the self, attachment security, and a sense of personal effectiveness in solving internal and external problems.
