PROFESSIONAL JOURNEY
My desire to become a therapist began during my own journey with mental health many years ago when I was introduced to various therapists as a child and witnessed family members experiencing mental health crises. As an adult, I decided to deepen my understanding of psychology, mental health, and therapy by pursuing a degree in Social Work with a Clinical Concentration. This education has provided me with a solid foundation to better understand and help change the systems I am passionate about.
Since completing my degree, I have dedicated myself to learning best practices for working with individuals from diverse backgrounds experiencing various mental health crises. I recognize that healing involves addressing all contributing factors to approach your journey from a holistic perspective. As a clinician, my goal is to support my clients in learning techniques to better understand themselves, ultimately aiming for them to become self-sufficient and no longer need my support.
Together, we will work to understand your life experiences, identities, motivators, and obstacles in the most practical and applicable way. You are the expert in your life, and I am here to provide you with the tools and techniques to better handle life's challenges.
APPROACH TO THERAPY
I employ a holistic, strengths-based, and client-centered approach that incorporates talk therapy, motivational interviewing, CBT, mindfulness techniques, and a trauma-informed perspective. I also focus on relationship dynamics and the client's role within them to help navigate these relationships in the healthiest way possible, utilizing attachment theory to deepen the understanding of relationships.
